Transfer Student Summer Research Program

Transfer Student Summer Research Program (TSSRP) is provided by Samueli Engineering in collaboration with local community colleges.  TSSRP is a closed program.  You MUST be a student participant recognized by our community college partners to apply.

Are you a community college student interested in pursuing engineering?  Are you intereseted in participating in engineering research at UCLA?  Would you like to gain a competitive-edge amongst your peers in applying and transferring to UCLA School of Engineering?  If so, the Transfer Student Summer Research Program may be the right choice for you.

Selected participants will have an opportunity to participate in an 8 week research internship, working with a Samueli Engineering faculty in their lab. Students will be hand-selected and assigned to one of our labs working on projects related to one of the Samueli Engineering disciplines:

Who should apply?
Those who plan to apply for transfer to UCLA Samueli Engineering in the following fall.  Underrepresented ethnic minority, women, 1st generation, and low-income students are highly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility
3.5 GPA minimum | Full-time status (current & in the fall) | Transfer to UCLA ready (60% of required courses for transfer completed)
Only participants of the MESA programs at East Los Angeles College and El Camino College.  Please contact the program directors for qualifications:

  2. Complete the online application(link).  Please note that this is a collaborative common application coordinated through CISE REU.
  3. Email your statement of purpose and resume to Wes Uehara, wuehara@seas.ucla.edu.  Please name your file as your full name and document.  For example – joebruin_resume.
  4. Have your recommenders complete the recommendation form (link) and send in the form and letter to Wes Uehara, wuehara@seas.ucla.edu.  Letters MUST be sent by letter writers.
